The Science
Our diamonds are laboratory-grown using microwave-powered chemical vapour deposition (CVD). The CVD technology we use here in the UK is demonstrably one of the cleanest and most energy efficient methods of producing diamonds. Our continuing R & D is helping to create a UK knowledge-base at the forefront of lab-grown diamond production.
Using extremely low power energy high-pressure-high-temperature (HPHT) technology we can then also replicate the annealing process natural diamonds undergo, deep in the earth, to achieve D to G colours.
Our team’s vast experience from a multitude of disciplines has enabled us to bring to this endeavour new ideas and thinking: we continue to push the boundaries of existing scientific knowledge and apply these advances across our company’s operations.
The Beginning
Our process takes a carefully selected mixture of ultra-pure gases back to their state 4.5 billion years ago, a time when the earth was still forming.
The Creation
Our reactors replicate the physics that created the universe, stars, planets, and the foundations of life itself. It does this by simulating the vacuum of space and the hot plasma of a star in miniature.
The Reformation
As carbon ions rain from the plasma, we can control their atomic re-formation into their pure elemental form, thus giving the carbon a ‘new beginning’ from a seed, to a stunningly beautiful laboratory-grown diamond.
The Theory
Many of the diamonds in the universe could have been created this way, long before high temperature and extreme pressure in the earth did the job.
